Impotence Education
Diabetic Impotence
Impotence is one of the greatest unspoken fears of men suffering from diabetes. Because the subjects of diabetic impotence and erectile dysfunction are difficult to discuss, many are not aware that there is a simple and affordable non-invasive solution. As your diabetic care specialists, we are making the Elite Custom vacuum erection device available to you.
Diabetic impotence can be physical or psychological or a combination of the two. Sexual problems and erectile dysfunction are distressingly common in men with diabetes, so DO NOT WORRY, you are NOT ALONE. According to the British Medical Journal, impotence affects over one third of diabetic men. Despite these grim statistics for diabetic men, it should not be assumed that all impotence associated with diabetes is irreparable or irreversible.
Many men have been, or will be, concerned with the quality of their erection at some time in their life. It may be an occasional difficulty in getting or maintaining an erection; it could be an erection that is just not as firm as it once was; or it may be a consistent inability to achieve an erection. It is estimated that over 30 million men in the US have experienced at least partial erectile dysfunction (ED). You are not alone if you experience a loss of erectile function.
The probability of impotence and erectile dysfunction increases with age and with the presence of micro-vascular complications, particularly retinopathy (eye disease) and neuropathy (nerve damage). The chance of a 50 year old diabetic man being impotent is approx 50% if he has no complications, but that increases to almost 100% if he has nerve damage or poor circulation.
Why wait another moment? Stop suffering from Diabetic impotence!
Erectile Dysfunction Resulting From A Radical Prostatectomy
During the period of nerve recovery after radical prostatectomy, the penis is inactive and not stimulated, as it is not being engorged with blood during nocturnal erections.
Healthy men experience nocturnal erections several times each night during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. It is natures way of keeping the penis healthy for reproductive purposes and for intimate relations. When nocturnal erections do not occur, a man is considered to have organic or physical erectile dysfunction and the penis develops nonuse atrophy.
With removal of a cancerous prostate, a frequent side effect of the surgery is erectile dysfunction. This side effect occurs in nearly everyone who has had non nerve-sparing surgery and in 50-60% of patients who have had nerve-sparing surgery, with younger patients doing better.
